Job Description
Engage Construction is a residential and remedial builder working across Sydney's Eastern Suburbs and Inner West. Our work spans major renovations and remedial projects on strata and Class 2 buildings, for homeowners, architects, engineers and strata managers.
n
We're a small business, so you'll own your projects properly and have direct access to the Director.
n
Be real and genuine. We're not your regular builder.
n
The role
n
You'll run two to three projects end to end, from contract handover through to final completion.
n
We like to work with plans and engineering details, although our work doesn't always arrive with a full set. When that happens, part of this role is turning what you have into something buildable: a clear written scope, a price everyone has agreed to, and a record that stands up when the scope changes six weeks in.
n
You'll be the main point of contact for the client, so you'll own the relationship along with the budget, the programme and the trades on site. A site manager supports you on the ground and you'll report to the Operations Manager.
n
This suits someone who has been doing contract administration or delivery for a few years and wants the step up, or someone already running projects for a small builder.
n
What you'll own
n
n
- Client liaison as the main point of contact, from the first site walk through to handover, including regular updates, site meetings, and honest conversations about cost and time
n
- Communication with strata committees, owners corporations, building managers and consultants
n
- Writing and issuing scopes of works where the documentation is thin or missing, and closing out the gaps before work starts
n
- Project budgets and margin, from letting the trades through to the final cost report
n
- Pricing and substantiating variations, with the photos, correspondence and backup that get them approved
n
- Programme and delivery dates, including calling out delays before they become problems
n
- Regular progress claims
n
- Subcontractor engagement, quotes, purchase orders and payments
n
- Site coordination alongside the site manager, including safety and quality expectations
n
- Approvals, compliance records and design work required under the Design and Building Practitioners Act
n
- Handover, defects and close out
n
n
What you'll need
n
n
- Four or more years in project management, delivery or contract administration with a residential or remedial builder
n
- Experience on jobs that start without complete documentation, and the judgement to define scope rather than wait for someone to hand it to you
n
- Proven client liaison skills, including keeping owners and committees informed and handling the hard conversations about cost, time and scope
n
- Solid written communication. A lot of this role is correspondence.
n
- A good grasp of building contracts, progress claims and variations
n
- A track record of bringing projects in on budget and on time
n
- Comfortable with software. We use Wunderbuild, BuildPass and Xero
n
- A tertiary qualification in construction management or similar is well regarded but not essential
n
- White card and a current driver's licence
n
n
What we offer
n
n
- $110,000 - $130,000 plus super, based on experience
n
- Vehicle allowance
n
- Real variety across renovation and remedial work, no two jobs the same
n
- Systems that work, so your time goes into the projects and not chasing paperwork
n
- A business growing steadily, with room to move into a senior delivery role
n
- Office in Alexandria with parking, close to our sites
