Role Summary
n
We are seeking a Senior Mobile App Automation Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in automating native iOS and Android applications. This role is 100% focused on automation engineering, with responsibility for designing, developing, and maintaining robust mobile automation frameworks using Appium with WebDriverIO and TypeScript. The engineer will play a key role in improving automation coverage, execution stability, and CI/CD integration for mobile applications delivered in Agile environments.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Mobile Automation Engineeringn n
- Design, develop, and maintain native mobile automation frameworks for iOS and Android using Appium with WebDriverIO (TypeScript).
n
- Build stable, reusable, and scalable automation components aligned with best engineering practices.
n
- Automate functional, regression, and smoke test suites for mobile applications.
n
- Handle mobile-specific challenges such as gestures, permissions, OS-level popups, device fragmentation, and flaky test behaviour.
n
- Continuously improve automation reliability, execution speed, and maintainability.
n
n
n
Automation Strategy & Quality Engineering
n
n
- Contribute to and execute mobile automation strategy aligned with release cycles.
n
- Drive increased automation coverage and reduce dependency on non-automated testing.
n
- Analyse automation failures, identify root causes, and implement long-term fixes.
n
- Ensure automation suites remain relevant as mobile apps evolve.
n
n
CI/CD & Execution
n
n
- Integrate mobile automation suites into CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
n
- Enable pipeline-triggered and scheduled execution of mobile test suites.
n
- Work with emulators, simulators, real devices, and cloud device platforms where applicable.
n
- Ensure clear and actionable reporting of automation results and quality metrics.
n
n
Collaboration & Technical Leadership
n
n
- Work closely with mobile developers and product teams to support high-quality releases.
n
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide automation-related input on risks and readiness.
n
- Mentor junior automation engineers and conduct automation code reviews.
n
- Promote engineering discipline and automation best practices within the team.
n
n
Required Skills & Experience
n
Must-Have
n
n
- 8+ years experience in software testing with a strong focus on mobile automation.
n
- Hands-on experience automating native iOS and Android apps using Appium.
n
- Strong experience with WebDriverIO for mobile automation.
n
- Solid programming skills in TypeScript.
n
- Strong understanding of mobile app lifecycle, architectures, and OS behaviours.
n
- Experience integrating mobile automation into CI/CD pipelines.
n
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments.
n

Valuable to Have
n
n
- Experience using BDD frameworks (e.g. Cucumber) with mobile automation.
n
- Experience with cloud-based mobile testing platforms or device farms.
n
- Exposure to enterprise-scale or BFSI mobile applications.
n
- Experience mentoring or guiding other automation engineers.
