Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of major industrial projects, we are seeking experienced Electrical Automation Specialists / Commissioning Technicians to join our growing team in a full-time capacity.

n

Based primarily on a major project in Melbourne's Western Suburbs, this role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale industrial automation systems, with ongoing work across future projects as Jarlam Electrics continues to expand.

n

This opportunity is ideal for experienced automation technicians, commissioning specialists, industrial electricians and controls technicians who enjoy working with cutting-edge automation systems and solving technical challenges in fast-paced industrial environments.

About the Role

n

Working alongside our Controls and Project teams, you will be responsible for the commissioning, testing and validation of industrial automation systems and associated electrical infrastructure.

n

Your responsibilities will include:

n

Downloading PLC and field device software required for hardware commissioning.

n

Commissioning 24V control systems and field devices.

n

Hardware device assignment and configuration.

n

Profinet network configuration and commissioning.

n

Sensor, scanner and reflector alignment.

n

Executing I/O testing,



including integration with third-party equipment.

n

Commissioning and validating Siemens Safety PLC and Safety I/O systems.

n

Downloading and verifying field device parameters.

n

Assisting with mechanical commissioning activities.

n

Completing commissioning documentation and checklists.

n

Reporting commissioning progress and escalating technical issues or bottlenecks.

n

Collaborating with mechanical, electrical and controls teams to resolve cross-disciplinary issues.

n

Diagnosing and resolving hardware faults during commissioning.

n

Performing motor rotation (bump) testing.

n

Completing red-line updates to as-built drawings for handover to the Controls Team.

n

About You

n

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

n

Minimum 3-5 years' experience in industrial automation, controls or electrical commissioning.

n

Experience with Siemens PLCs, particularly TIA Portal (Version 21 experience highly regarded).

n

Experience commissioning 24V control systems and field devices.

n

Knowledge of Profinet network setup and commissioning.

n

Experience with 24V I/O hardware.

n

Experience commissioning Siemens Safety PLCs and Safety I/O.

n

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

n





Experience working in industrial construction or major project environments.

n

Current White Card.

n

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary commissioning team.

n

Strong communication and reporting skills.

n

Highly Regarded

n

Current A Grade Electrical License.

n

Experience with automated conveyor systems or warehouse automation.

n

Experience with industrial networking technologies.

n

VSD and HMI commissioning experience.

n

Exposure to robotics and functional safety systems.

n
