Nelson Bay Golf Club is seeking an experienced and motivated Bar Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our busy bar and gaming facilities. This is a hands-on leadership role for a hospitality skilled who is passionate about service excellence, compliance, and team development.

About the Role

n

Reporting to the General Manager, the Bar Manager is responsible for the end-to-end operation of the Club's bar, ensuring consistently high standards of service for our members and guests, responsible liquor and gaming operations, strong cost control, and profitable promotions - while building and leading a skilled, engaged team.

Key Responsibilities

n

- Manage daily bar operations including opening/closing, cash handling, POS accuracy, and banking
n
- Oversee stock forecasting, ordering, rotation, and monthly stock-take
n
- Set and enforce service standards and professionally resolve customer issues
n
- Recruit, induct, train, and coach bar staff across service standards, RSA/RSG, SOPs, hygiene, POS, and cash handling
n
- Plan and deliver profitable beverage promotions and monitor performance outcomes
n
- Ensure full compliance with liquor licensing, gaming, RSA/RSG, WHS, and cash-handling requirements
n
- Provide operational oversight of functions and events
n




- Manage gaming services including poker machines, Keno, and TAB facilities
n
- Deliver approved standards of hospitality for members and visitors at all times
n

Key Performance Indicators

- Beverage gross profit and COGS in line with budget
n
- Stock variance maintained at or below 1.0% per month
n
- Labor-to-sales ratio within approved targets
n
- 100% completion of mandatory training requirements
n

n

About You

n

You will bring:

n

n
- Proven experience in bar or hospitality management (club or hotel experience highly regarded)
n
- Robust leadership, coaching, and people management skills
n
- Sound knowledge of POS systems, stock control, and inventory management
n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
n
- The ability to manage conflict professionally and lead by example
n

Licenses & Certifications

n

n
- Current RSA and RCG (NSW) - essential
n
- Food Safety and First Aid certification - desirable
n
