Thepurpose of the role is to work with leading mining companies, industryorganisations and finance institutions in the integration of nature intobusiness decision-making. You will be playing a crucial part in shaping thefuture of nature sustainability for the mining sector. The role will alsoinvolve working across a broader range of sectors including linearinfrastructure, ports and agriculture through the application of lendersafeguards, notably the International Finance Corporation's Performance Standard6.

Responsibilities

Project delivery

n

n
- Project Management: consisting of technical design of complex projects, ensuring timely delivery of on-budget projects to the requisite level of quality and technical substance.
n

n

Projects may include

n

n
- Undertaking assessments to understand site level project risks and impacts and identifying opportunities for mitigation including offset.
n
- Environmental and Social Due Diligence of large, complex projects across mining, infrastructure, and agriculture sectors.
n
- Undertaking assessments to identify portfolio level risks, impacts and dependencies on nature and preparation of strategies to mitigate risks and optimise opportunities.
n
- Other duties commensurate with the role.

Strategy and business development

n

n
- Developing strategic and cutting-edge proposals of work with new or existing clients.
n
- Expand the business through networking and relationship building with global business forums, academia, NGOs etc.
n

n

Innovation and communication

n

n
- Public speaking on behalf of TBC, including writing,



reviewing and delivering webinars and in-person presentations to elevate our visibility as a trusted brand for the mining sector.
n
- Writing and reviewing material for scientific and business press, TBC website and publications.
n
- Work with senior staff and our technical research and development team to develop approaches, metrics and tools for assessing and mitigating biodiversity impacts of complex, large-scale projects in areas of sensitive biodiversity.
n
- Keeping abreast of current nature-related issues for international business and development projects.
n
- Line management of junior consultant(s), mentoring and supporting their professional development.
n
- Provision of technical leadership in specific sectoral or thematic areas.
n

Requirements

n

n
- At least ten years' relevant experience in development projects with a focus on mining.
n
- Experience of applying lender requirements, particularly International Finance Corporation's Performance Standard6, to development projects in emerging economies in extractives, and/or agribusiness sectors
n
- Experience of managing and deliveringmultiple complex projects
n
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
n
- Sufficient GIS skills to design andevaluate analyses with our GIS team
n
- Willingness and enthusiasm to travelglobally and work in challenging environments
n
- Good track record of businessdevelopment and client relationship management
n
- A good Honours degree in a relevant discipline.
n
- A background as a field conservation specialist, understanding how to make conservation theory work in practice with communities and governments.
n
- Experience of reviewing work and providing QAQC
n
- Proven ability to work in French or Spanish
n
- Experience of supervising or managing individuals and/or small teams
n
- A postgraduate qualification or a PhDin a relevant discipline.
n
- Experience working in Africa, LatinAmerica, or Asia.
