Job Description
We are currently seeking Coal Exploration Geologists (Rig Geology and Supervisors) who are accountable for the delivery of high-quality Exploration field data acquisition and storage across operations and exploration tenements.
n
Ensures the safe and controlled delivery of exploration programs by being non conditional about safety and adhering to policies and procedures
n
Conduct Health and safety inspections focusing on exploration operations and contractors
n
Promotes a strong SHE culture within Exploration
n
Identifies and/or rectifies hazards reported in the field
n
Participate in any SHE incident investigation, and ensures assigned corrective actions are completed
n

Undertake safe and productive delivery of exploration geoscience field activities
n
Follow existing standards and procedures for geoscience data acquisition, aligning with current systems whilst keeping abreast of future alternatives
n
Follow the outlined techniques for quality data collection that supports the adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data.
n
Foster and manage relationships with key stakeholders
n
Operational Planning
n
Provide input into the development of exploration program schedules and budgets
n
Follow requirements of landowner agreements and environmental permits
n
Contribute to the development of operational reports
n
Work Management
n
Outline hole design to drilling contractors and monitor compliance to design
n
Undertake geological data acquisition following Geoscience Exploration Guidelines and per field instructions
n
Collect, store, prepare sample instructions for the dispatch of samples
n
Ensure compliance against geoscience standards
n
Contribute to the development exploration programme close out reports as required
n
Check Drilling Activity Reports for accuracy and confirm charges
n
Feedback
n
Reconcile borehole execution to hole design
n
Reconcile predicted geological variables to actual
n
Action any feedback received on performance to improve quality of data acquisition
n
People & Teams
n
Maintain key relationships with Contractors & Service Provider management, supervision and workforce
n
Maintain key relationships within Geoscience Department
n
Maintain key internal relationships with mine site operation teams (e.g. technical services department)
n
Qualifications:
n
Relevant Degree in Geosciences with Geoscience experience
n

n
Preferred and required for Supervisors -

Technical Knowledge
n
Operations:
n
At least 3 years of experience in exploration, mine geology or geoscience data management activities in Coal is preferred
n
Commercial:
n
Basic financial metrics & budgeting/scheduling capability
n
Management:
n
Proficient in identifying key strategic risks and opportunities that could materially impact data and data storage and application of appropriate processes and systems to mitigate/leverage them
n
Compliance:
n
Understanding of Coal Mining Safety & Health Legislation
n
Relevant Technical Standards
n
Relevant Safety & Health Management System
n
Technical Skills
n
Must be experienced in at least one relational data base software package (preferably acQuire).
n
Critically assess geoscience data for accuracy and consistency
n
Ability to coordinate field work in accordance with schedule
n
Ability to manage various contractors and service providers
n
Ability to promote strong safety culture
n
Ability to manage multiple scopes of work
n
Ability to analyse gaps against internal and external framework and implement compliance solution
n
