Job Description
Cyber Security Architect – Major Programs

- Initial 12-month contract
n
- Major enterprise transformation programs

- Sydney-based, primarily on-site

Talent International is partnering with a prominent NSW Government organisation to recruit an experienced Cyber Security Architect for a major program of work.
n
This role will provide strategic security architecture leadership across complex cloud, infrastructure, network, application, platform and data environments. You will ensure security is embedded into target-state designs from inception through delivery.
n
Key responsibilities
n
n
- Design and govern cloud service security patterns and secure-by-design architectures.
n
- Develop UX and Common Experience Layer Security Models across enterprise solutions.
n
- Define security controls, settings, protocols and standards across all architectural layers.
n
- Provide security architecture leadership across major programs and projects.
n
- Conduct security reviews, threat analysis and risk assessments.
n
- Prepare architecture artefacts for governance, assurance and compliance.
n
- Facilitate co-design workshops with architects, vendors, technical teams and business stakeholders.
n
- Ensure solutions align with relevant government policies, security frameworks and enterprise architecture standards.

About you
n
To be considered, you must have:
n
n
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing Common Experience Layer Security Models, particularly across the Microsoft technology stack.
n
- Strong expertise across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID and associated Microsoft security technologies.
n
- Experience developing cloud service security patterns and secure enterprise architectures.
n
- At least five years' hands-on experience in cyber security, with a solid focus on security architecture.
n
- A strong background in cloud services, infrastructure and network architecture within large, complex ICT environments.
n
- Experience defining security controls across cloud, infrastructure, network, identity, application, platform and data layers.
n
- Strong knowledge of frameworks and standards such as ACSC ISM, ISO 27001, NIST CSF and NIST 800-53.
n
- Demonstrated experience with architecture governance, security assurance and risk management.
n
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, workshop facilitation and communication skills.
n
n
Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISA, SABSA, ISO 27001, cloud security or TOGAF will be highly regarded.
n
Applicants must hold Australian or New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency. The successful candidate will also be required to complete relevant pre-employment checks and obtain or hold a Baseline Security Clearance.
n
This position is primarily on-site in Sydney, with limited work-from-home arrangements available by exception.
