Canfab Powdercoating is seeking a Yardsman/Labourer/Trainee Powdercoater to join our team on a full-time basis at our Fyshwick facility in ACT 2609. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in the powdercoating and manufacturing industry. You will play a vital role in supporting our operations, learning valuable trade skills, and contributing to the efficient delivery of our services. This position offers the chance to grow from a labourer into a skilled tradesperson through hands‐on training and mentorship within a supportive work environment.

What you'll be doing

n

Performing general yard duties including material handling, stock management, and organisation of work areas

n

Assisting with the preparation of components and materials for powdercoating processes

n

Supporting experienced powdercoaters by learning and observing techniques and best practices

n

Operating and maintaining basic equipment used in the powdercoating operation under supervision

n

Cleaning and maintaining work areas to ensure a safe, organised and hygienic workplace

n

Filling in job sheets and measuring jobs ready for production

n

Assisting with the loading and unloading of goods and finished products

n

Contributing to a collaborative team environment and supporting colleagues as required

n

Following all workplace health and safety procedures and protocols

n

Progressively developing powdercoating skills through structured on-the-job training

n

Loading and unloading trucks using forklift

n

What we're looking for

n

A strong work ethic and genuine motivation to learn a skilled trade in the powdercoating industry

Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a manufacturing environment

n

Physical fitness and capability to perform manual labour tasks, including lifting and carrying materials

n

Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation

n

Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

n

Reliability, punctuality and a positive attitude to work

n

Current driver's licence

n

Forklift licence a must

n

Previous experience in manufacturing, powdercoating or related industries is desirable but not essential

n

Willingness to undertake training and develop new skills on the job
