This is a hands-on role operating a 30-tonne Cat excavator, working alongside experienced site supervisors and project teams to complete excavation works safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.

About the Role
n
As an Excavator Operator, you will be responsible for operating and managing excavator equipment across a variety of projects and site works. You will ensure all excavation activities are completed safely, efficiently and in line with project requirements, company procedures and industry standards.
n
Working closely with Site Supervisors, Operations Managers and project teams, you will contribute to successful project delivery while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and productivity.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Safety & Compliance
n
n
- Follow all Irritek WHS policies, procedures and safe work practices.
n
- Complete risk assessments and required WHS documentation for each job.
n
- Participate in WHS meetings and lead toolbox talks when required.
n
- Maintain a strong safety-first approach across all work activities.
n
n
Equipment Operation & Management
n
n
- Operate a 30-tonne Cat excavator safely and efficiently.
n
- Complete daily pre-start checks, maintenance inspections and servicing requirements.
n
- Maintain equipment cleanliness, lubrication and refuelling requirements.
n
- Assist with planned maintenance scheduling and reporting.
n
n
Excavation Operations
n
n
- Complete excavation works including bulk earthworks, trenching, pipe laying and final trimming.
n
- Safely operate a range of attachments including silt buckets, augers, rollers, digging buckets and rippers.
n
- Ensure excavation works meet project specifications, safety requirements and quality expectations.
n
n
Project Support & Coordination
n
n
- Review project plans and work closely with Operations Managers and Site Supervisors.
n
- Adapt work methods and priorities based on site conditions and project requirements.
n
- Travel to project sites and stay overnight when required.
n
- Provide input and suggestions to improve excavation processes and project delivery.
n
n
Administration
n
n
- Complete accurate daily timesheets and WHS documentation.
n
- Read and interpret drawings, plans and project requirements.
n
- Maintain transparent communication with supervisors and team members.
n
n
Skills & Experience
n
To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Proven experience operating excavators and associated attachments.
n
- Strong knowledge of excavation equipment operation and maintenance.
n
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans and specifications.
n
- Understanding of safety requirements and compliance standards.
n
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
n
- A reliable and professional approach to your work.

The position is physically demanding and requires extended periods operating machinery, standing, walking and working outdoors.
