Some fintechs grow by ads. Some by sales teams.
The smart ones grow through people who already have the trust.
pay.com.au has put $10 billion in business payments through its platform since 2019. Over 70,000 Australian businesses use it for BAS, payroll, super and suppliers.
It just raised $53 million at a valuation above $633 million. More than double a year ago. And it has just launched in the US.
Now it is building the channel that reaches the next 70,000: accounting and bookkeeping practices who use the platform themselves, then refer their clients onto it.
They are hiring Partner Managers in Melbourne to own that.
The basics:
- $85-100K base plus super, $130K to $145K OTE
- Commission quarterly, weighted to referrals rather than signatures
- BDRs booking meetings into your diary
- Hybrid, three to four days in the Melbourne office
- New office, three floors, Thursday lunches
The reality:
You inherit a warm book. Accountants and bookkeepers already enrolled on the platform, BDR-booked meetings already in the diary. Your job is not to generate the pipeline, it's to work it.
The goal is simple:
get practices actively transacting and helping their own clients do the same. But simple doesn't mean easy. Plenty of practices will sign up and you help them extract value for themselves and their clients.
These are numbers people. An accountant paying a fee to use a platform has to see the ROI clearly before they move. You need to build that case, not assume it's obvious.
This is a relationship and expansion role, not a hunting role. But you will be sales and growth-focused. The pipeline exists. Your job is to move it forward, keep it warm, and turn enrolled practices into active advocates who bring their own clients onto the platform.
Partnerships experience is helpful. A Fintech background helps. Neither is essential. What matters is that you genuinely enjoy the client-facing side of the work and know how to help people extract real value from a platform, because that's what gets referrals moving.
