Job Description
Barrett Plaster is a Melbourne commercial plastering, carpentry and cladding contractor, delivering new builds and fit-outs across education, health, retail and sporting sectors. n
The Role
n
This newly created role takes ownership of job start-up, procurement coordination and programme management, with full lifecycle responsibility from start-up through to close-out. You'll work closely with the Director, Project Manager and Estimating team to make sure every project is set up right and runs to schedule from day one — acting as the key link between the office and the site.
n
What You'll Be Doing
n
n
- Owning the job start-up process — project folders, site-specific SWMS from our templates, compliance docs, Simpro (Job Management) setup and builder introductions.
n
- Issuing material purchase orders and subcontractor work orders, and coordinating delivery logistics.
n
- Liaising daily with suppliers to confirm schedules, chase orders and resolve issues
n
- Building and maintaining project programmes in Microsoft Project, and flagging risks, delays or budget variances early
n
- Sending RFIs and supporting the Project Manager with day-to-day coordination
n
- Closing out completed projects — final documentation, compliance certificates and handover
n
- Progressing into variations coordination in Simpro as you settle into the role
n
n
What We're Looking For
n
n
- Experience in coordination, administration or project support — construction industry experience is a bonus, not essential
n
- Highly organised, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks without dropping the ball
n
- A confident,
professional communicator — written and verbal
n
- Comfortable in a quick-paced environment where priorities shift quickly
n
- Proficient in Microsoft 365; experience with Microsoft Project, Groundplan/ Bluebeam or Simpro is a plus
n
n
The Person We're Looking For
n
Technical skills matter — the person matters more.
n
YOU ARE
n
Highly organised — you plan ahead and don't let things fall through the cracks
n
Process-driven — you follow and improve systems rather than cutting corners
n
Friendly and approachable — people feel comfortable coming to you
n
Humble — you do great work without needing recognition for it
n
Reactive — when something needs to happen, you make it happen
n
Self-managed — you keep your own tracker current without being chased
n
Respectful in every interaction — office, site, suppliers and builders
n
YOU ARE NOT
n
Someone who needs constant direction to stay on track
n
Someone who finds structure restrictive
n
Someone who is unapproachable or difficult to communicate with
n
Someone with an ego that gets in the way of teamwork
n
Someone who procrastinates or passes the buck
n
Someone who needs constant follow-up to stay accountable
n
Someone who speaks down to others or uses a condescending tone
n
What's On Offer
n
n
- $80,000–$90,000 + super, full-time and permanent
n
- Real ownership, not micromanagement — you'll run your workload through a live project tracker rather than sitting in status meetings
n
- A genuine growth path — including training on Groundplan for quantity take-offs, opening a pathway into pre-construction
n
- A close-knit team culture built on respect, on site and in the office
n
- The chance to shape a newly created role as the business grows
