Overview

The University of New England (UNE) is seeking an accomplished and strategic leader to join its Estate and Built Environment Directorate as Director, Capital Development. Based in Armidale and reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role provides executive leadership of UNE's Capital Works Program, Property Strategy, and Campus Development Strategy. It shapes the long-term vision for the University's built environment and ensures campuses support excellence in learning, research, and community engagement.

Responsibilities
n
n
- Oversee the planning, delivery, and governance of major capital projects.
n
- Ensure robust systems for asset management, financial stewardship, and sustainable growth.
n
- Lead with strategic foresight and operational excellence to deliver complex infrastructure programs aligned with institutional goals.
n
n
Qualifications and Experience
n
n
- Extensive experience in leading large-scale capital works and infrastructure programs ($5m–$50m+).
n
- Proven strength in strategic planning, project governance, contract negotiation, and financial management.
n
- Exceptional leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
n
- A solid commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the creation of transformative environments.
n
- Experience within the higher education or public sector will be highly regarded.
n
