ABOUT OUR CLIENT
n
Our client is one of Australia's largest privately owned wholesalers, operating more than 100 branches nationally and employing over 800 staff across the country. With an experienced leadership team and a well-established national footprint, they're seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead the payroll function through an important period of change. This is a six month contract with genuine potential to extend and offers the opportunity to make a real impact while working closely with the CFO and broader leadership team.

ABOUT THE ROLE
n
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll oversee the end-to-end payroll function while leading a small payroll team and supporting the implementation of a new payroll system.
n
You'll be responsible for ensuring payroll continues to run accurately and on time while reviewing existing processes, strengthening controls and helping deliver a successful payroll system upgrade.
n
This role would suit someone who enjoys improving payroll operations, can confidently interpret awards and legislation, and is comfortable working in a rapid-paced national business.

RESPONSIBILITIES
n
n
- Lead the end-to-end fortnightly payroll for approximately 800 employees nationally.
n
- Manage and mentor an experienced Payroll Officer.
n
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately, on time and in line with legislative requirements.
n
- Oversee payroll tax, PAYG, superannuation, STP reporting and reconciliations.
n
- Manage workers compensation payroll administration and insurer reimbursements.
n
- Lead the payroll component of an upcoming payroll system implementation, including testing, process mapping, documentation and user acceptance testing.
n
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, reporting and internal controls.
n
- Partner with Finance, HR and operational leaders across the business.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
n
n
- Previous experience managing payroll within a medium to large organisation.
n
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and Modern Awards.
n
- Experience leading end-to-end payroll for a multi-site or national workforce.
n
- Exposure to payroll system implementations, upgrades or transformation projects.
n
- Strong reconciliation and Excel skills.
n
- The ability to lead a small team while remaining hands-on.
n
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
n
- Experience with Micropay Meridian, ConnX or Pronto will be highly regarded but is not essential.
n

WHAT IS ON OFFER?

- Six month contract with the potential to extend.
n
- $130,000 plus super pro rata
n
- Work closely with the CFO and senior leadership team.
n
- Lead an established national payroll function.
n
- Play a key role in a major payroll system implementation.
n
- Hybrid working after the initial onboarding period (3 days office, 2 days from home).
n
- Mount Waverley location.
