Job Description

Terre Coaches is seeking an experienced and dedicated Mechanic to join our growing team on a full-time basis at our Laverton North, VIC facility. This is a pivotal position within our operations, ensuring that our fleet of coaches remains in optimal working condition to deliver safe, reliable transport services to our passengers. As a Mechanic, you will play a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of vehicle safety and performance, directly contributing to our reputation for excellence in public transport services.

What you'll be doing

- Conducting routine and scheduled maintenance on coaches and heavy vehicles to manufacturer specifications
n
- Diagnosing mechanical faults and defects using diagnostic tools and equipment
n
- Repairing and replacing mechanical components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension systems
n
- Performing safety inspections and compliance checks in accordance with relevant regulations and industry standards
n
- Maintaining detailed service records and documentation for all maintenance and repair work completed
n
- Identifying potential issues during inspections and recommending preventative maintenance to avoid costly downtime
n
- Working collaboratively with other team members and management to prioritise maintenance schedules
n
- Ensuring all work areas are kept clean, organised and protected in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements

What we're looking for

n

n
- A recognised mechanics qualification or equivalent trade certification
n
- Proven experience as a mechanic working on heavy vehicles, coaches, or commercial transport fleets
n




- Knowledge of diesel engines and heavy vehicle systems
n
- Proficiency with mechanical and diagnostic tools and equipment
n
- A current, valid driver's licence (manual and automatic)
n
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high safety standards
n
- Strong problem‐solving abilities and the capacity to work independently and as part of a team
n
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
n
- Experience with vehicle compliance documentation and maintenance scheduling is highly desirable
n
- A safety-focused mindset with understanding of workplace health and safety principles
