Sydney Private Hospital is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Eye Theatre Manager to lead our dedicated ophthalmology operating theatre complex.

This is a unique opportunity for a proven perioperative leader with extensive ophthalmology experience to combine operational excellence, people leadership and business development to grow one of Sydney's leading private ophthalmic surgical services.

About the Role
n
As Eye Theatre Manager, you will be responsible for the clinical, operational and commercial performance of our specialist ophthalmology theatre complex.
n
A key focus of this role will be to increase theatre utilisation and grow surgeon engagement by attracting new ophthalmologists to Sydney Private Hospital, while maintaining exceptional standards of patient care, efficiency and clinical outcomes.
n
Working closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, executive leaders and perioperative teams, you will ensure Sydney Private Hospital remains the hospital of choice for ophthalmic surgery.

Key Responsibilities

Growth and Surgeon Engagement
n
Develop and execute strategies to increase ophthalmology theatre utilisation.
n
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing ophthalmologists and their practice teams.
n
Identify and attract new ophthalmologists and procedural activity to the hospital.
n
Collaborate with hospital leadership to support business growth objectives.
n
Operational Leadership
n
Lead the day-to-day management of the ophthalmology theatres.
n
Drive efficient theatre utilisation, scheduling and workflow management.
n
Manage budgets, productivity targets and key performance indicators.
n
Ensure compliance with all accreditation, quality and safety standards.
n
Lead, coach and develop a highly skilled ophthalmic theatre team.
n
Manage recruitment, rostering, performance and succession planning.
n
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
n
Clinical Excellence
n
Maintain the highest standards of patient safety and quality care.
n
Support innovation and best practice in ophthalmic perioperative services.
n
Partner with surgeons to continuously enhance the operating theatre experience.

Workforce Development Focus

The successful candidate will lead training and competency programs aimed at ensuring:

- All ophthalmic theatre nurses are competent to scrub ophthalmic procedures.
n
- All ophthalmic theatre nurses are competent to scout ophthalmic procedures.
n
- A adaptable, multi-skilled workforce capable of supporting service growth and surgeon needs.

About You
n
To be successful, you will bring:
n
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
n
Minimum 5 years' experience in a management role within a dedicated ophthalmology theatre environment.
