Aviato Consulting is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Golang) to architect high-performance distributed systems, optimize transactional data flows on Google Cloud, and collaborate directly with enterprise clients.

The Impact You'll Make (Key Responsibilities) - Golang preferred

n

Architect Distributed Backends: Own the backend system design, database schemas, and API architecture for large-scale enterprise solutions.

n

High-Performance Engineering: Build and optimize highly loaded, fault-tolerant distributed systems—resolving complex bottlenecks, memory leaks, and CPU utilization challenges.

n

Integrate the Cloud Engine: Seamlessly bridge application code with Google Cloud native resources, deploying microservices to containerized and serverless environments (GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions).

n

Data & Streaming Performance: Design and consume clean gRPC and RESTful APIs while optimizing transactional data flows utilizing BigQuery, Cloud Spanner, Cloud SQL, or message brokers (Kafka/PubSub).

Maintain the Bar: Enforce rigorous engineering governance—conducting strict code reviews, building end-to-end unit/integration testing mocks,



and ensuring clean software design patterns across the cross-regional team.

Local Market Presence: Collaborate occasionally with client technical stakeholders in the Melbourne CBD to lead architecture alignments or unpack intricate backend system requirements.

What You Bring to the Table (Requirements)

n

The Tenure: 8–10 years of professional backend software engineering experience, with a solid, focus-heavy portfolio of shipping production-grade services at scale.

n

Language Proficiency: Solid programming roots with hands-on proficiency in one or more general-purpose languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go, C++, or Node.js), backed by an intuitive understanding of clean code and object-oriented or functional design patterns.

n

Cloud-Native Blueprinting: Production experience building applications engineered explicitly for cloud environments, including deep familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes manifests, and IaC (Terraform) principles.

n

The Consulting Polish: Exceptional English communication skills. You can explain complex distributed systems trade-offs (like data replication lags or network stream state-management) to an enterprise client's engineering lead with absolute clarity.

The Market Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

The Go Advantage: Strong production experience writing idiomatic,



highly optimized Golang services, with deep knowledge of Go's memory model, profiling tools (pprof), and concurrency primitives.

GCP Architecture Alignment: Active Google Cloud certifications (Professional Cloud Architect or Developer) or a deep familiarity with GCP identity paradigms (IAM, OAuth, VPC Service Controls).

Local Sector Familiarity: Previous experience architecting backends within highly regulated Australian sectors (e.g., Core Banking, Digital Lending, Energy, or Telecommunications).

AI-First Mindset: Comfort using or implementing AI‐assisted engineering tools (e.g., Gemini Code Assist) to maximize your daily prototyping and test‐suite building velocity.
