Job Description
Engineering Technologist (Design & Manufacturing)
n
Solar Grid-Box is an Australian engineering company specialising in the design and manufacture of low-voltage switchboards, distribution boards and engineered solutions for commercial, infrastructure and telecommunications projects.

As our manufacturing operations continue to grow, we are strengthening our engineering capability to optimise sheet-metal enclosures, standardise components and manufacturing processes, improve production efficiency, and support the development of reliable and repeatable engineered products.

We are seeking a skilled Engineering Technologist to join our Melbourne-based team and contribute across engineering design, manufacturing, process improvement and project delivery.

About the Role
n
The Engineering Technologist will apply practical engineering knowledge across product design, CAD modelling, manufacturing support, production optimisation, machinery and tooling, quality assurance and technical project coordination.
n
Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing team, the position will play an important role in improving product design and establishing efficient, repeatable manufacturing processes for switchboards, distribution boards and associated engineered components.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology or a closely related engineering discipline.
n
Minimum 1 - 2 years of relevant professional engineering experience in engineering technology, mechanical design, manufacturing engineering, production engineering or a related technical engineering role.
n
Proficiency in 3D CAD and 2D engineering drafting using SolidWorks, AutoCAD or equivalent software.
n
Practical knowledge of sheet-metal manufacturing processes including laser cutting, bending/folding, tolerances and design for manufacture.
n
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and manufacturing requirements.
n
Experience preparing engineering drawings, technical documentation and manufacturing information.
n
Robust analytical and practical problem-solving skills with an ability to identify and implement engineering improvements.
n
Strong attention to detail and ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, production, supplier and project stakeholders.
n
Highly Regarded
n
Experience with FEA using SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS or similar engineering analysis software.
n
Experience with engineering manufacturing, production optimisation or process improvement.
n
Experience with Bills of Materials, engineering procurement and technical documentation.
n
Experience designing jigs, fixtures, tooling or manufacturing aids.
n
Experience with machinery maintenance, fault diagnosis or manufacturing equipment.
n
Experience in quality assurance, engineering document control or production planning.
n
Exposure to switchboard, enclosure, electrical-cabinet or similar engineered-product manufacturing.
n
Interest in developing further technical knowledge of switchboard manufacturing and applicable Australian Standards.
n
