Job Description
We are looking for an experienced, confident Disability Support Worker to provide dedicated, ongoing support to a specific participant in the Bundaberg region. This participant has complex support needs and requires someone who is calm under pressure, consistent, and genuinely committed to building a trusting, long-term relationship.
n
This isn't a general pool role, it's a meaningful, dedicated position for someone who is ready to show up with purpose every shift.
n
About the Role
n
You will work as part of a small, close-knit support team alongside other DSWs and a dedicated coordinator. Shifts include a mix of mornings, evenings, active awake nights, and some weekends, depending on participant needs.
n
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
n
n
- Delivering high-quality, person-centred support to a participant with complex behaviours and Restrictive Practices
n
- Implementing Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) frameworks with consistency and care
n
- Building genuine rapport with your participant, their family, and their support network
n
- Assisting with personal care, daily living activities, and light domestic tasks
n
- Supporting community access and helping the participant work towards their NDIS plan goals
n
- Maintaining accurate progress notes, incident reports, and documentation in line with NDIS standards
n
n
About You
n
To thrive in this role, you'll bring:
n
n
- Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, or a related field (or working towards)
n
- Demonstrated experience supporting participants with complex behaviours,
including knowledge of Restrictive Practices and BSP implementation
n
- Experience working within PBS frameworks — you understand proactive strategies, not just reactive responses
n
- A calm, grounded presence under pressure — you don't rattle easily
n
- Genuine warmth and the ability to build authentic relationships with participants from all walks of life
n
- Reliability and consistency — your participant will depend on you turning up, and turning up well
n
- Access to your own vehicle for travel between shifts
n
- Eligibility to work in Australia
n
n
Mandatory Requirements
n
All candidates must hold (or be willing to obtain prior to commencement):
n
n
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check — Queensland)
n
- Current National Police Check (within 3 years)
n
n
Why Join For Care?
n
n
- Hourly rate based on experience, plus applicable SCHADS Award loadings for evenings, weekends, active nights, and sleepovers — your take-home is more than the base rate suggests
n
- Dedicated coordinator support and regular check-ins — we know complex support work is demanding and we want you to feel genuinely backed
n
- A small, experienced team that communicates well and looks out for each other
n
- Ongoing, stable hours with a participant who genuinely benefits from consistency
n
- Real opportunities to grow your skills and career in the disability sector
n
- An organisation that puts both participants and workers first — not just on paper
n
n
