Job Description
The Queensland Government is seeking a Principal Property Officer to join their team and play a key role in optimising the use, leasing, and development of state-owned assets, ensuring they meet the needs of communities, and government objectives while complying with legislation and policy.

Your Prospect

In this role, you'll leverage your expertise to negotiate, develop, and manage property agreements—including leases, licences, deeds, and joint development agreements. You'll engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, from government departments and local councils to developers and community groups, ensuring optimal property outcomes for the state.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Lead and manage the implementation of property programs including Joint Development Agreements, identification and development of third party use and leasing programs, to prioritise the services undertaken by Property Services.
n
- Analyse potential risks, opportunities and strengths in third party use and leasing programs to ensure consistency in decision making.
n
- Provide timely, independent property and planning advice, developing strategies, identifying emerging issues and developing and implementing departmental plans which impact key stakeholders within and external to the department.
n
- Identify legislative and policy obligations and seek improvements to the leasing program and reporting, community use and Joint Development Agreement models within the Division.
n
- Adopt a project management approach to complex matters to achieve consolidated and effective outcomes.
n
- Develop and sustain productive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholder groups, including other Property Services teams of Strategic Advisory, Acquisition & Divestment, property owners, facilities, legal services, town planning, procurement, regional infrastructure advisors and across government departments

To excel in this role, you'll bring:
n
n
- Knowledge of Queensland property legislation and local, state or federal government processes (advantageous).
n
- Industry experience in property law, conveyancing, leasing, town planning, or related fields (highly regarded but not mandatory).
n
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of delivering high-quality property advice.
n
- Excellent research and report-writing abilities, including briefs and strategic documents.
n
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset, with a commitment to achieving organisational goals.
n
