Opportunities for Full time & Part Time Senior Medical Officer at Multiple Locations across Regional and Metro Melbourne
n $350K Base Salary Plus Loadings and Allowances

About the role

n

The Senior Medical Practitioner (SMP) will provide and supervise medical care to prisoners by delivering and evaluating medical programs and medical services required and/or provided.
n The SMP coordinates hours of service and on call responsibilities in consultation with the Health Services Manager and the Director, Medical Services.
n The SMP assists the Director, Medical Services with the research, preparation and development of new business opportunities.
n The role requires the incumbent to perform all duties in accordance with the GEO Healthcare Values.

Opportunities exist for Full-Time and Part-Time at various sites, including:
n Salary for Full Time: 350k plus super (subject to experience and qualification) (pro-rata for Part Time)

Skills and Experience

n

The ideal candidates will have:

n

n
- Medical practitioner currently registered by the Medical Board of Australia (from 1 July 2010).
n
- Fellowship of the FRACGP (Mandatory).
n
- Documentary evidence of medical indemnity insurance.
n
- A minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience.
n
- High written and verbal communication skills.
n
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team (including supporting Allied Health & Nurse Practitioner)
n
- Demonstrated competence in provision of high-quality care.
n
- Willingness to undertake regular career development relevant to the position.
n
- Computer skills relevant to the role.
n
- Experience in mental health,



drug and alcohol and emergency care. (Desirable)
n

Other Requirements of the role

n

n
- Valid Australian driver's license and the ability to travel between locations.
n
- Ability to work within a prison setting, which will involve direct contact with people in prison associated with the delivery of healthcare.
n
- Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
n
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
n
- Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required - including participation in an on-call roster.
n
