Who We're Looking For
n
We're not looking for someone to fill a gap for 6 to 12 months. This isn't a stopgap job. It's the start of a rewarding career, and our goal is to help you grow into your full potential.
n
We are building a team of professionals who take ownership, communicate openly and honestly, follow through on commitments, lead by example, and are committed to continuous improvement.
n
This role is not suited to people who regularly arrive late, cut corners, resist feedback, blame others for mistakes, cannot follow systems and processes, or are simply looking for a short-term job.
n
The right person for this role:
n
Plays as part of one team.
n You leave your ego at the door,
respect your teammates, and know the best outcomes happen when we work together safely and efficiently.
n
Does it right, the first time.
n You follow proven systems and processes — because in this work, shortcuts can put lives at risk. Accuracy and integrity matter.
n
Thinks ahead.
n You see a few steps beyond where you are, plan what's needed, and stay focused on delivering safe, high-quality work.
n
Reliable under pressure.
n You show up on time, follow through on what you say you'll do, and maintain standards — because our clients and teammates rely on it.
n
Accountable with the right attitude.
n Punctual, safety-first, reliable, and eager to learn. Not just following instructions, but actively listening, applying feedback, and building confidence through practice.
n
Communicates clearly.
n You don't need to be polished on day one — but you do need to be clear, approachable, and willing to develop into someone who can confidently deal with clients and work well with others.
n
If you want to be trained, developed, and supported to become a skilled professional, this is your pathway.
n
With the help of our internal training program, you'll progress through structured online and practical training, step up into a junior technician role, and prepare for your Certloc Certified Locator Assessment. From there, the path is wide open: continuous professional development, leadership opportunities, and the chance to mentor the next wave of trainees.
n

n
n
Meaningful Work
n
Every job you do keeps communities safe by protecting underground utilities.
n
Your work prevents accidents, saves lives, and supports critical underground infrastructure.
n
Tools & Technology
n
n
- Work with cutting-edge locating equipment (Ground Penetrating Radar, Electromagnetic locators).
n
- Gain hands-on technical experience.
n
n
What You'll Do
n
This isn't a desk job. It's hands-on, outdoors, and no two days are the same. You'll be working on construction sites, roads, parks, beaches, schools, and private properties — sometimes in the sun, sometimes in the rain.
n
If that excites you, keep reading.
n
If you only want air-conditioning and an office chair, this probably isn't for you.
n
As a trainee, your day-to-day will include:
n
n
- Supporting certified technicians and senior team members on live job sites, to deliver safe, accurate, and effective utility locating services across Sydney.
n
- Setting up and operating advanced locating equipment such as electromagnetic locators and ground penetrating radar, while assisting with digital reporting.
n
- Spray marking and documenting utilities so builders and contractors know exactly where it's secure to dig.
n
nn
- Assisting with Non-Destructive Digging (NDD) investigations to safely expose underground utilities and accurately identify utility types, materials, sizes, depths, and other key asset information.
n
- Reinstating and backfilling potholes following utility exposure works, maintaining safe work sites and ensuring high standards of workmanship and presentation.
n
nn
- Taking site photos, keeping notes, and updating job records — accuracy is everything in this role.
n
- Wearing full PPE and following safety-first practices to keep yourself, your teammates, and the public safe.
n
- Travelling between sites — every day is different, and you'll see a wide range of projects across Sydney.
n
n
On the training side, you'll also be expected to:
n
n
- Provide daily and weekly updates on your progress and check off training targets.
n
- Keep a training diary — with written notes, photos, and videos — to document your day-to-day learning.
n
- Record and refine processes for revision and deeper understanding.
n
- Complete weekly training assessments through Geoscope University, ensuring you stay on track with your development.
n
- Commit fully to the program for the period of training, showing consistency, motivation, and a drive to grow.
n
n
This role is for someone motivated to work hard, keep improving, and build a rewarding future in an industry that protects lives and keeps projects safe.
n
Your Training Path
n
Through a combination of Geoscope University, field mentoring, practical assessments, and hands-on experience, you'll progress from trainee to Geoscope Certified, before working towards nationally recognised Certloc Certification.
n
Week by week, you'll build skills, gain confidence, and develop a profession that can support you for life.
n
What You'll Need
n
This is an entry-level role, so no prior experience is required.
n
What matters most is your attitude, willingness to learn, and most of all, commitment. This role isn't for everyone, but to succeed here, you must:
n
n
- Be ready to work outdoors all day, in all weather conditions (rain, heat, cold).
n
- Stay physically active — the job requires walking, bending, lifting, and being on your feet for long hours.
n
- Bring a safety-first mindset — cutting corners is not an option when lives and projects are on the line.
n
- Show up consistently — punctual, reliable, and committed to following through on tasks.
n
- Work as part of a team — respect your teammates, communicate openly, and leave ego at the door.
n
- Commit to training and growth — keeping a diary, completing weekly assessments, and sticking with the program.
n
- Have the right attitude — willing to learn, open to feedback, and motivated to turn this into a long-term career.
n
- Have a valid Full driver's licence (so you can travel to job sites).
n
- Be legally entitled to work in Australia.
n
- Be willing to commit to a 2 year minimum training agreement after successful onboarding, to ensure you and the company both benefit from the investment in your development.
n
n
If you are not looking to continuously learn, improve, and challenge yourself, this won't be the right fit.
