The Opportunity

n

You will join a small, highly collaborative squad consisting of 4-5 developers, acting as the sole Quality Engineer within the team. This is an individual contributor role with QE Lead-level seniority, focused on driving quality across a backend services ecosystem that integrates with multiple systems including BFF layers, payment platforms, and enterprise backend services.

This is not a Selenium or UI testing role. We are looking for someone with deep API testing expertise and solid Java automation capabilities.

What You'll Be Doing

n

n
- Design, build, and maintain API automation frameworks using Java and REST Assured
n
- Perform hands-on API testing across complex backend integrations
n
- Execute manual API testing using Postman when required
n
- Build automation solutions from scratch where no framework currently exists
n
- Extend and improve existing automation frameworks and test coverage
n
- Drive an automation-first approach across the squad
n
- Collaborate closely with developers, architects, product teams, and stakeholders
n
- Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and delivery outcomes
n
- Manage test data and environment requirements proactively
n
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across Quality Engineering practices
n

Mandatory Skills & Experience

n

n
- Strong experience in API Testing (manual and automation)
n
- Advanced Java programming skills
n
- Proven expertise with REST Assured
n
- Strong experience with Postman
n
- Experience building automation frameworks from scratch
n
- Ability to enhance and maintain existing automation frameworks
n
- Strong understanding of modern software delivery practices and Agile environments
n
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
n
- Self-driven and capable of working independently within a squad environment
n

Highly Desirable

- Experience within Payments, Banking, or Financial Services domains
n
- Experience using GitHub Copilot or AI-assisted engineering tools
n
- Exposure to complex enterprise integration environments
n
- Passion for driving automation and engineering excellence
