Are you a seasoned payroll skilled who thrives in fluid, high-activity environments? Our client is seeking a decisive Payroll Manager to take the reins of their payroll function! This is a critical leadership appointment for an individual who can navigate the complexities of large-scale projects and labour-hire dynamics while fostering a high-performance culture.

About the Role

As the Payroll Manager, you will be the subject matter expert tasked with professionalising processes and providing strategic oversight across a diverse workforce. Key responsibilities include:

- Leading and mentoring a team of 2 direct reports, focusing on performance uplift and operational excellence.
n
- Managing complex payroll cycles for 600 headcount, ensuring 100% accuracy across multiple awards and enterprise agreements.
n
- Acting as the systems champion for the Astute payroll platform, identifying gaps and implementing best-practice workflows.
n
- Overseeing scheduling and allocation data flowing from Assigner and ensuring seamless integration with MYOB for financial reporting.
n
- Applying expert knowledge to accurately calculate complex final entitlements and settlement figures, ensuring strict associated regulatory and tax compliance.

- Managing and administering all payroll aspects related to complex employee transitions and life cycle changes within a fluid, ever-changing industrial landscape.

About You

n

- Proven experience managing payroll in similarly complex environments such as Construction, Industrial, or Labour Hire.
n
- Technical proficiency in Astute is highly desirable, alongside experience with MYOB and scheduling software.
n
- A hands-on leadership style with the ability to stabilise a team and drive accountability without being rigid; you must be approachable and collaborative.
n
- Deep expertise in Australian Award interpretation and a proactive approach to managing the ebbs and flows of a site-based industry.
n
- The ability to work on-site to establish control and lead from the front.
