Job Description
Allegra Spender is the Independent Federal Member for Wentworth, known for her evidence-based, community-driven approach to federal politics and her leadership on tax reform, climate action, small business and integrity in public life. We're looking for a Media & Communications Coordinator to devise and implement our digital and print media strategy and activities.

This is an opportunity to work in Australian politics, directly with Allegra on making her a trusted voice on the issues that matter most to the country, while helping to build a broader community-powered political movement.

What You'll Do:
n
Lead the development of a performance driven digital and content media strategy and plan.
n
Closely follow current affairs and the political landscape and understand how to interpret and communicate Allegra's point of view.
n
Amplify Allegra's activities in the community and Parliament by creating interesting and compelling social and print media content that is on brand and measurably expands Allegra's reach in the community.
n
Communicate Allegra's policy agenda through engagement with all forms of media.
n
Work closely with the Media Manager to support Allegra's broader media presence in the news through interviews, opinion pieces and media releases.
n
Occasional travel to Canberra during Parliamentary sitting weeks will be required.

You are a creative, politically aware communications qualified.
n
You work well under pressure, able to juggle competing priorities and work flexibly.
n
You have proven experience in a professional environment where you work in an integrated team, happy to jump in and work with others as required.

You are motivated to continually innovate and improve through experimenting with new technologies and approaches.

With a portfolio of work, you are able to demonstrate your expertise at using social media platforms and content creation tools.

Employment conditions:
n
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27 which includes:
n
A commencing salary of $77,071 - $92,846 (pro rated for part time work if applicable) depending on experience.
n
An additional optional allowance may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.
n
Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).
n
An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.
n
A probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.
n
The successful applicant will be required to comply with the Behaviour Standards and Code and may be required to undergo a National Police History check.
n
This is a full time role though the possibility of commencing part time will be considered for the right candidate.
n
