About the Role
n
We are seeking an experienced and motivated CNC Laser Cutting Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team based in Melbourne's northern suburbs.
n
Working with modern CNC fibre laser cutting equipment, you will be responsible for producing high-quality precision components for the defence and general engineering industries. Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Set up and operate CNC fibre laser cutting machines.
n
- Load and unload steel, stainless steel and aluminium sheet.
n
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, work orders and production documentation.
n
- Verify materials, sheet thicknesses and job specifications prior to production.
n
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to ensure optimum cutting quality.
n
- Perform first-off and in-process quality inspections.
n
- Carry out routine machine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance.
n
- Report machine faults or maintenance requirements promptly.
n
- Complete production records accurately.
n
- Maintain a clean, organised and protected work area.
n
- Work closely with supervisors and fellow team members to achieve production schedules and quality objectives.
n

About You
n
To be successful in this role you will have:
n
n
- Previous experience operating CNC laser cutting machines or similar CNC manufacturing equipment.
n
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
n
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
n
- Good mechanical aptitude and problem‐solving skills.
n
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
n
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and reliable attendance.
n
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.
n
n
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
n
n
- Experience with Bystronic or similar CNC laser cutting equipment.
n
- Overhead crane experience (not essential).
n
- Experience in sheet metal fabrication or general manufacturing.
n
