Opal Fibre Packaging Australia provides a full service offering in corrugated cardboard box packaging from design and product testing through to supply chain integration. We have an exciting opportunity for a trade qualified individual to join the Opal team. This is a full-time permanent role predominantly servicing multiple sites throughout the Cairns/ Innisfail and wider regions.
n
The main objective of the role is to maintain, repair, and retool plant and equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, with a focus on upholding safety and maximizing production at our customer's sites.
n
Other duties for this role include (but are not limited to):
n
n
- Setting and prioritising of work, ensuring parts are available and labour is fully utilised
n
- Monitor all downtime/uptime in an effort to increase the effectiveness of the packaging systems
n
- Maintain a focus on response times as well as effective and timely close out of issues raised
n
- Ensure all equipment is maintained to OEM run speeds and quality standards
n
- Maintain a liaison with equipment and technical suppliers
n
- Plan and implement the most efficient and effective delivery of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and machine systems services to ensure it meets customer needs and regulatory requirements.

For this role we would ideally like you to have:
n
n
- Strong trade qualified skills (such as: fitters and turners, or other relevant trade qualifications – working with heavy machinery)
n
- A current full driver's licence (as this role does include a substantial amount of travel)
n
- A positive attitude and strong focus on customer service, with an uncompromising attitude towards health & safety
n
- Good fitting, fabrication, and troubleshooting skills
n
- Ability to effectively perform preventative maintenance tasks
n
- The ability to work autonomously, but also enjoy being a part of a team
n
- Solid attention to detail and communication skills (written and oral)
n
- Flexibility, initiative, problem solving skills and a proactive mindset
n
- A restricted electrical license would be viewed favourably but is not a requirement
n
n
