Job Description
SENIOR IN-HOUSE OPPORTUNITY
n
Looking for a senior legal role where you can continue doing genuinely complex and interesting work without the demands of traditional private practice?
n
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced workplace lawyer to join a large in-house legal team in Brisbane CBD, combining sophisticated contentious work and regular advocacy with genuinely sustainable working arrangements.
n
The prospect offers:
n
- Total remuneration up to $199K
n
- Permanent senior in-house appointment
n
- 36.25-hour working week
n
- WFH and flexible working arrangements
n
- Part-time options available
n
- Complex and high-profile workplace matters
n
- Direct access to senior decision-makers and stakeholders
n
- Professional development and leadership opportunities
n
- Highly experienced and collegiate legal team
n
THE ROLE
n
Joining an established Workplace Law team, you will work alongside highly regarded senior practitioners on significant employment and industrial relations disputes.
n
This is not a traditional advisory-only employment role. You will take ownership of sophisticated contentious matters from commencement through to final hearing, with the opportunity to maintain and further develop your advocacy skills.
n
Your work will include:
n
- Managing complex workplace and industrial disputes from commencement to resolution;
n
- Developing case and litigation strategy;
n
- Providing strategic employment and industrial relations advice;
n
- Appearing before the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission in contested proceedings;
n
- Preparing and presenting verbal and written submissions;
n
- Leading evidence and conducting examination-in-chief, cross-examination and re-examination;
n
- Advising senior stakeholders throughout significant workplace disputes;
n
- Managing key client relationships; and
n
- Contributing to the leadership and management of the broader practice.
n
ABOUT YOU
n
We are interested in speaking with senior lawyers who have developed strong workplace relations and advocacy experience.
n
Ideally, you will have approximately 10+ years' post-admission experience. However, candidates with fewer years who have developed substantial advocacy experience will also be considered.
n
You will ideally bring:
n
- Strong employment and industrial relations knowledge;
n
- Experience managing complex contentious matters;
n
- Demonstrated advocacy experience, including verbal submissions and working with witnesses;
n
- Experience appearing before courts, commissions or tribunals; and
n
- The ability to confidently manage senior client and stakeholder relationships.
n
WHY MAKE THE MOVE?
n
This opportunity is particularly suited to a senior lawyer who wants to retain the quality, complexity and advocacy of their practice, while gaining the flexibility and working conditions that can be difficult to achieve at senior level.
n
Rather than stepping away from challenging legal work, you will continue to run significant matters, work directly with senior stakeholders and regularly appear as an advocate, while benefiting from a 36.25-hour working week and genuine flexibility.
n
With total remuneration up to $199K, flexible and part-time arrangements, WFH options and a permanent appointment, it offers a compelling alternative for senior lawyers looking for their next long-term move.
n
Relocation applications are also welcomed.
