Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
n
Develop Agricultural Strategies and Provide Support(30%)
n
Scheduleandmonitortheapplication ofastructuredagriculturalnutrition program
n
Collect&collatesoil;, water & tissue samplingresults
n
In conjunction with irrigation department, schedule and adjust irrigation programs to maximise plant health and productivity
n
Work with Farm Manager to developand implementannualpruning andcrophusbandryprograms, based onorchardvariety,ageand resources
n
Document and implement a plant protectionspray program,assistingfarm manager to schedule sprays and IPM strategies. Work withSprayteam to ensure chemical use is compliant and effective
n
Assist withR&D,datacollectionandagri-innovation in priority areas, as directed by business
n
Field monitoring and reporting(50%)
n
Monitor, evaluate andreportonapplication andperformanceofagronomy schedule, including fertiliser&spray; programs
n
Monitor and reportpest &diseaseand; plant healthwithin orchards
n
Provide crop forecast, size and quality data for harvest/pack shed requirements, as requested
n
Direct and report onexternal consultantvisits,as directed by Farm Manager and Agronomy Manager
n
Completeformalised reportsto meetcompliance withexternal audit requirements
n
Manage and report onfield research trialsas requested by Farm Manager and Agronomy Manager
n
Monitor& reportnurserystock development for upcoming plantings
n
Undertakingcrop maturity,field sampling & reportingforSales and Quality department
n
Ensure compliance with budgetary restrictions for plant protection and otherconsumables
n
Document and update technical BMPs & SOPs, as directed by farm manager and agronomy manager
n
Health and Safety(3%)
n
Support employees and managers to achieve best practice Safety,Healthand Environment outcomes byimplementing safe practices and processes at all times
n
Familiarise and understand Company OH & S policies and procedures in line with Nutrano standards
n
Trend Analysis(10%)
n
Collateand updateall agronomic data (nutrition, sampling, climate, chemical)for analysis
n
Collate and reporton monthlyforecasting,qualityand production data
n
Undertake seasonal reviews of all production data to revise agronomic programs
n
Other(7%)
n
Assist Farm Manager with supervision of staff, as directed
n
Mentor & supervisejunior agronomists& other technical personnelwithin the business.
n
Experience and Qualifications:
n
Degree in Agronomy, Environmental Science or similar (preferred)
n
Knowledge of citrus agronomy(preferred)
n
Experience scheduling & adjusting irrigation programs for orchard horticulture
n
Experience and capacity to undertakeregular fieldscoutingactivities in Nth Australiaor similarclimate
n
Knowledge & identification skills for common orchard pest and diseases
n
Demonstrated experienceoperatingand reporting forAgritechon a commercial scale
n
Experience with formal business reporting of technical data
n
Current Driver's Licence.
n
ChemCertor equivalent accreditation (or willingness to obtain).
