Refrigeration Mechanic — Transport Refrigeration Units (Carrier & Thermo King)

Coolway Trans | Yennora & Glendenning, NSW | Full-time, permanent | $45–$60 per hour + fully equipped service vehicle

Coolway Trans is a family-owned, 100% asset-based temperature-controlled carrier operating nationally with 280+ pieces of equipment. Our fridge units are the business — if they stop, the freight stops. We're looking for a refrigeration mechanic to keep them running.

This is a refrigeration-only role. You won't be pulled onto engine, brake or trailer work — our heavy vehicle mechanics handle that.

Our fleet runs Carrier HE 19, Carrier Supra 1250 and Thermo King A-500 units. If you know these platforms, you'll be productive from day one.

n

You'll get your own service vehicle, purpose set-up for transport refrigeration work — gauges, recovery and charging gear, diagnostic tools, common spares and consumables on board. Turn up, diagnose, fix, move on. No waiting on someone else's ute.

You'll work across both our Yennora and Glendenning sites, reporting directly to the Fleet Manager.

The role

n

n
- Scheduled servicing on Carrier HE 19, Carrier Supra 1250 and Thermo King A-500 units
n
- Routine work: belts, filters, oil, coolant, defrost checks, pre-trip inspections, refrigerant top-ups and leak checks
n
- Diagnostics and fault-finding — controller alarms, sensors,



electrical faults, low capacity, poor pull-down, airflow issues
n
- Component replacement and repair: compressors, condensers, evaporators, solenoids, valves, fans
n
- Downloading and interpreting temperature data and unit logs
n
- Keeping service records up to date for compliance and unit history
n

What you'll need

n

n
- Refrigeration and air conditioning trade qualification
n
- ARCtick refrigerant handling licence (or eligible to obtain)
n
- Hands‐on experience with Carrier and/or Thermo King transport refrigeration units — direct experience on our unit types is a robust advantage
n
- Confident diagnosing 12/24V electrical and control systems
n
- Own hand tools
n
- Current driver's licence with a clean record
n

Nice to have

n

n
- Manufacturer training or certification from Carrier or Thermo King
n
- Experience with multi-temp and multi-zone units
n
- HR or HC licence
n
