Mid–Senior Building Designer – Contractor

YDG is seeking an experienced Mid–Senior Building Designer to join our Essendon-based team on a contractor basis with possibility of full time employment.

n

This chance would suit a capable designer who can work independently, take ownership of projects and produce high-quality documentation using Revit.

n

About the opportunity

n

You will contribute across all stages of our residential/commercial/mixed-use projects—from initial concepts and design development through to detailed documentation and approvals.

n

You will coordinate project requirements, communicate with clients and consultants, and ensure work is delivered accurately and on schedule.

n

Key responsibilities

n

n
- Develop design concepts and detailed project documentation using Revit
n
- Prepare drawings for planning applications and building permits
n
- Manage assigned projects through the design and documentation stages
n
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, builders and relevant authorities
n
- Review project information and resolve design or documentation issues
n
- Ensure drawings comply with relevant planning requirements, building regulations and the National Construction Code
n
- Maintain accurate project records and meet agreed deadlines
n
- Collaborate with our internal team as required
n

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

n

n
- Mid-level or senior experience as a Building Designer, Architectural Designer or Documenter
n




- Strong Revit skills and experience producing detailed construction documentation
n
- A relevant qualification in building design, architecture or a related discipline
n
- Sound knowledge of Victorian planning and building requirements
n
- A good understanding of construction methods and detailing
n
- The ability to manage projects and work with minimal supervision
n
- Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
n
- Excellent attention to detail
n
- An active ABN and the ability to invoice for your services
n
- Appropriate professional and public liability insurance
n
- Australian working rights
n

Experience coordinating consultants and managing projects through planning and building approval stages will be highly regarded.
