We're looking for an experienced Accountant – Public Practice to join our Melbourne team.

n

We're seeking an accountant with 3+ years' Australian Public Practice experience who can confidently manage compliance work, build solid client relationships and make an immediate contribution to our growing team.

n

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work, values strong client relationships and is looking to build a long-term career within a respected and growing firm.

About the Role

n

Working with a diverse portfolio of clients across a range of industries, you'll provide professional accounting and taxation services while building trusted relationships with your clients.

n

Your responsibilities will include:

n

n
- Preparing financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.
n
- Preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements (BAS) and IAS.
n
- Preparing payroll and payroll reconciliations, including year-end payroll compliance.
n
- Completing bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
n
- Assisting clients with bookkeeping and advanced Xero support.
n
- Preparing workpapers and maintaining accurate client records.
n
- Responding to client enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
n
- Identifying opportunities to improve client processes and outcomes.
n

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who can confidently step into the role with minimal supervision and become a valued member of our team.

n

To be successful in this role, you will have:

n

n
- 3+ years' Australian Public Practice experience.
n
- The ability to independently prepare financial statements and income tax returns.
n
- Strong knowledge of Australian taxation, GST and payroll obligations.
n
- Advanced experience using Xero – this is a core requirement of the role.
n
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
n
- A genuine passion for building long-term client relationships and providing practical solutions.
n
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
n
- A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach.
n

Desirable

n

n
- CA or CPA qualified (or currently studying).
n
- Experience with Xero Practice Manager and other cloud-based accounting software.
n

Working Hours

n

This is a full-time position, with standard business hours of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Salary

n

$80,000 - $90,000 plus superannuation

n

Salary will be negotiated based on experience and capability.
