What You'll Do
n
As the Data Platform Engineering Lead, you will provide technical leadership for SEMPHN's data engineering capability and lead the ongoing development, operation and continuous improvement of DataBRIDGE, our enterprise data platform.
n
You will:
n
n
- Lead the design, development and optimisation of enterprise data pipelines, data models and cloud-based data services using technologies including Azure, Databricks and dbt.
n
- Take technical ownership of DataBRIDGE, ensuring the platform remains secure, reliable, scalable and fit for purpose.
n
- Translate platform strategy and roadmap priorities into practical engineering solutions, delivery plans and production outcomes.
n
- Establish and maintain data engineering standards, architecture patterns, coding practices and quality controls.
n
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, platform optimisation, modern engineering practices and knowledge sharing.
n
- Implement monitoring, observability and alerting practices to support platform performance, reliability and resilience.
n
- Provide technical leadership, coaching and guidance to the Data Engineering team.
n
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, Primary Health Insight, other PHNs and external partners to deliver trusted and reusable data products.
n
- Support strong data governance practices, including security, documentation, data quality and access controls.
n
n
About You
n
You are an experienced data engineering professional who enjoys solving complex problems, building scalable solutions and leading technical delivery.
n
You will bring:
n
n
- A bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, data/information management, mathematics or a related discipline.
n
- Minimum 3 years' hands‐on experience in data engineering, with experience working with Azure and Databricks.
n
- Proven experience designing and maintaining data architectures, dimensional data models and data marts.
n
- Strong development experience with Python, PySpark, SQL and dbt for data transformation and pipeline development.
n
- Experience with Git workflows, pull request governance and CI/CD pipelines.
n
- Knowledge of data governance, cataloguing and access control practices, including Databricks Unity Catalog.
n
- Experience implementing data monitoring, observability and automated alerting solutions.
n
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code approaches such as Terraform, ARM or Bicep.
n
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for a range of audiences.
n
- A collaborative approach with the ability to build effective relationships across technical teams and business stakeholders.
n
- Experience working within the health sector, population health or a similar data-driven environment will be highly regarded.
