Fantastic Opportunity! Our client who is a leader in the manufacture of dried milk products is seeking to appoint a FMGCPlant Engineer for their state-of-the-art facility in Geelong. The Plant Engineer is a critical position in my client's manufacturing operations, ensuring its facilities run safely, smoothly, and efficiently. is an expert position which is more than just mechanics; plant engineers are innovators propelling advancement and play a critical role in maintaining competitiveness and operational excellence for my client through adopting innovative ideas.

Key Responsibilities:
n

- Equipment management
n
- Process improvement
n
- Implementation of novel productivity initiatives
n
- Plan and coordinate preventative maintenance activities to maximise equipment reliability during scheduled shutdowns.
n
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective & Preventative Action (CAPA) processes to improve long-term equipment performance.
n
- Provide high-level technical support to maintenance and operations teams.
n
- Develop internal engineering capability through coaching and technical training.
n
- Maintain and continuously improve the site's MEX preventative maintenance system and asset database.
n
- Ensure SOPs, operating manuals and supplier documentation remain current and accessible.
n
- Evaluate, plan and implement capital improvement projects.
n
- Manage projects from concept through commissioning, including:
n
- Scope
n
- Budget
n
- Timeline
n
- Risk
n
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational performance.
n
- Lead and coordinate the maintenance trades team and contractors.
n
- Ensure planned maintenance is completed safely,
on time and within budget.
n
- Promote a proactive maintenance culture and continuous improvement mindset.
n
- Build robust communication across departments to identify maintenance improvement opportunities.
n
- Maintain appropriate controls across:
n
- Warehousing
n
- Logistics
n
- Staff management
n
- Expenditure
n
- Occupational Health & Safety
n
- Ensure maintenance procedures and business processes are followed consistently.
n
- Communicate procedural updates effectively across relevant stakeholders.
n
- Support compliance with company systems and controls.
n
- Complete additional leadership and administrative duties as required by the business.
n
- Maintain current industry knowledge and engineering best practices.
n
- Participate in ongoing professional development and competency training.
n
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
n
- Develop employee capability through the Skill Matrix and Individual Development Plans.
n
- Operate within delegated financial authority limits.
n
n
Qualifications, Experience, & Skills Required:
n
n
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
n
- Minimum five years' experience within food or dairy manufacturing or production environments.
n
- Previous experience within Dairy Manufacturing or FMCG highly desirable.
n
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, production equipment and maintenance practices.
n
- Experience using MEX maintenance software.
n
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
n
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
n
- Resourceful and capable of working within changing environments.
n
n
