About the Role

n

We are seeking experienced and motivated Field Service Fitters to join our team, supporting our mining customers across the region and helping to maximise equipment reliability and performance.

n

These are permanent field service positions, with multiple 7 on, 7 off roster options available.

n

As a Field Service Fitter at Hastings Deering, you will:

n

n
- Perform maintenance, repairs and component replacements on Caterpillar equipment.
n
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
n
- Ensure repairs are completed efficiently and to Caterpillar standards.
n
- Assess components for reusability and provide recommendations for repair or replacement.
n
- Complete service reports, timecards, parts requests and customer documentation accurately.
n
- Build strong customer relationships through professional service and technical support.
n
- Promote genuine CAT parts and identify opportunities to support customer operations.
n

About You

n

A successful teammate will have:

n

n
- Trade qualifications – Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology, Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent diesel fitter trade.
n
- Caterpillar product knowledge – experience working on CAT machinery, systems and diagnostic tooling.
n
- Strong troubleshooting skills – ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults independently.
n
- Customer-focused mindset – confident in building relationships, managing expectations and providing clear updates.
n
- Safety-first approach – committed to maintaining high WHS standards at all times.
n
- Valid driver's licence – required to travel between customer sites across the Rockhampton region.
n
