Job Description

Sven's Plumbing and Gas is seeking a Mature Age Apprentice to join our team in Hawthorn, VIC 3122. This is a full-time position offering an exciting prospect to launch a new career in the skilled trades. As a mature age apprentice, you will undertake structured training in plumbing and gas fitting whilst gaining practical, hands‐on experience working alongside experienced professionals. This role is ideal for career changers or those returning to the workforce who are ready to develop expertise in a rewarding and in‐demand trade.

What you'll be doing

n

Assisting qualified plumbers and gas fitters on residential projects

n

Learning and practising fundamental plumbing techniques, including pipework installation, repairs and maintenance

n

Supporting gas fitting work under supervision, including safety protocols and compliance procedures

n

Carrying out site preparation, material handling and general labouring duties

n

Maintaining tools and work areas to ensure safety and efficiency on job site

n

Developing customer service skills and understanding the importance of professional conduct

n

Following health and safety procedures and contributing to a safe working environment

n

What we're looking for

n

A mature attitude, reliability and commitment to completing a full apprenticeship

n

Physical fitness and the ability to work in various environments and conditions

n

A willingness to learn and the ability to follow instructions from experienced tradespeople

n

Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team

n





A genuine interest in the plumbing and gas fitting trades

n

A current driver's licence

n

The ability to obtain or willingness to obtain relevant licences and certifications as required by the apprenticeship

n

Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

n

Previous work experience in a skilled trade or vocational background is advantageous but not essential

n

A police check and drivers licence check is required as part of our on boarding process. We require a clear criminal history
