Job Description
Mercy Community are on the search for a passionate Counsellor in the Youth Sexual Violence program. to join our team in Toowoomba, this is a Maximum-Term contract Full-Time till 30 June 2027.

This is your opportunity to work within an exciting and enthusiastic team, guided by an experienced Team Manager and Senior Program Manager.
n
Our Counsellors deliver counselling and therapeutic services to children and young people, encompassing assessments, pre- and post-evaluations, and interventions. Additionally, the role involves liaising with a wide network of stakeholders who contribute to or influence the success of client plans, referrals, and goals.
n
$88,099 - $94,792 per annum (SCHADS level 4) plus superannuation plus salary packaging available
n
This role will involve but not limited to:
n
n
- Work with your line manager to identify client needs and deliver appropriate services within available resources, continually assessing and responding to changing needs and dynamics
n
- Conduct assessments to inform therapeutic goals, intervention plans, casework, and client support
n
- Offer short and long-term individual and family counselling in response to referrals, using various therapeutic interventions to address identified issues
n
- Ensure culturally appropriate counselling for clients from Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and CALD backgrounds by liaising with community members
n

About you
n
n
- Degree in Social Work, Behavioural Sciences, Psychology or related discipline from a recognised institution
n
- Understanding of family and/or individual counselling, in the areas of trauma, violence and abuse,
mental health early intervention and counselling modalities utilized with these populations
n
- Queensland Provisional Green or above Driver's License
n
- Current and valid Paid Blue Card (Queensland Working with Children Check) or ability to apply
n
- Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
n
