Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking a Plant Operator / Labourer to join our Rural Roads Maintenance team within the Infrastructure & Environment Department.

n

This role is responsible for supporting Council's rural roads maintenance and construction programs, including grader operations, road maintenance activities and general labouring duties., The Plant Operator / Labourer - Rural Roads position undertakes a range of operational duties, including plant operation, rural road maintenance and general labouring tasks. The role supports Council's rural road network by ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard., The successful applicant will assist with a variety of tasks, including:

- Operating plant and machinery, including grader operations and final trim grading.
n
- Performing road maintenance and construction activities on rural roads
n
- Conducting pre-start checks and reporting defects on plant and equipment.
n
- Grass cutting and vegetation maintenance along rural roads.
n
- Maintenance of road signs and guideposts
n
- Pothole patching and other road maintenance tasks
n
- Slashing and general labouring duties
n
- Assisting with litter and garbage collection where required
n
- Supporting Council works programs as directed by the Rural Roads Supervisor
n

About the Candidate

n

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

n

n
- Experience operating plant and machinery, particularly grader operations
n




- Ability to complete assigned tasks within expected timeframes and maintain high work standards.
n
- Robust understanding of Workplace Health and Safety practices
n
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
n
- Knowledge of civil construction or local government works is desirable.
n
- Flexibility to work outside normal hours when required.
n

Mandatory Requirements

- Current Police Clearance
n
- Manual C Class Driver Licence
n
- Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver Licence
n
- Construction White Card (required prior to commencement)
n
- Current Grader Operator Certification
n
- Formation Grading of Unsealed Roads Certification
n

n

Desirable

n

n
- Traffic Control or Traffic Management accreditation
n
- Heavy Combination (HC) Licence
n
- Experience operating a range of plant and machinery
n
- Certificate III in Plant Operations (Civil Construction) or similar
n
- Minimum two years' experience in grader operations and final trim work
n

n

Work Environment

n

n
- Full Time- Stream B- Level 1-7- $60,000 to $69,000 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) + Superannuation.
n
- 5 weeks Annual Leave (with 17.5% Leave Loading)
n
- Monthly RDO (13 per year)
n
- Personal (Sick) Leave

- Remote Area Housing Allowance, National
