The City of Whyalla is entering an exciting period of growth and transformation. As a key regional hub supporting major industry, renewable energy and infrastructure projects, Whyalla continues to play a critical role in South Australia's economic future.

Reporting to the Director Corporate, the Manager Finance & Knowledge Management is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing Finance, Payroll, Procurement, Information Technology and Records Management functions across Council. This position will play a pivotal role in driving financial sustainability, governance, operational excellence and organisational transformation.

Your new role
n
n
- Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams across finance, procurement, IT and information management.
n
- Drive long-term financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting.
n
- Provide strategic advice to Council, Executive Leadership and the Audit & Risk Committee.
n
- Oversee annual financial statements, rates,
assets, payroll and statutory reporting.
n
- Improve procurement strategies, frameworks and value-for-money outcomes.
n
- Support technology modernisation initiatives and cybersecurity governance.
n
- Develop and implement effective records and information management strategies.
n
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and customer-focused service delivery.
n

What you'll need to succeed
n
n
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
n
- CA or CPA qualification (or near completion).
n
- Ideally, experience within Local Government or NFP sectors.
n
- Demonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting and strategic planning.
n
- Strong commercial acumen and financial analysis capability.
n
- Experience leading teams and driving organisational improvement.
n
- High-level stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
n
- Advanced Excel skills and solid systems capabilities, including exposure to BI reporting tools such as Power BI.
n
- A collaborative leadership style with a focus on governance, accountability and outcomes.
n
