Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Manager to lead the maintenance operations of our large-scale almond orchard in Hattah, Victoria. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the maintenance, servicing, and repair of a diverse fleet of agricultural machinery, vehicles, almond equipment, and farm infrastructure. The successful candidate will lead a small workshop team, coordinate maintenance schedules, and ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently to support orchard operations.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operations of the workshop.

n

Plan, schedule, and oversee preventative maintenance programs.

n

Coordinate repairs and servicing of farm machinery, vehicles, and equipment.

n

Lead, supervise, and mentor workshop staff.

n

Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.

n

Manage workshop inventory, spare parts, and consumables.

n

Liaise with suppliers and external contractors as required.

n

Ensure the workshop is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and safety.

n

Maintain accurate maintenance records and service documentation.

n

Promote and uphold workplace health and safety standards.

Skills & Experience

n





Strong mechanical background with experience maintaining agricultural machinery or heavy equipment.

n

Previous experience in a workshop leadership or management role is preferred but not essential.

n

Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

n

Sound knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, welding, and general fabrication.

n

Strong organisational and planning abilities.

n

Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure during peak seasons.

n

Effective communication and leadership skills.

n

Current driver's licence.

n

Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Diesel Mechanics, or a related field is highly regarded but not essential.
