Symon Bros. Constructions (Vic) Pty Ltd is a leading, long-established civil construction and subdivision company currently expanding its operations. We are seeking experienced and safety-conscious Pipelayers to join our construction team.

In this role, you will be responsible for installing, aligning and maintaining underground pipelines for water, sewer, stormwater, gas and drainage systems across project sites throughout Melbourne's north, west and south-east suburbs. What You'll Be Doing

- Installing underground pipes for water, sewer, drainage, and utility systems
n
- Reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans, and specifications
n
- Measuring, cutting, aligning, and positioning pipes to spec
n
- Preparing trenches and pipe bedding materials
n
- Using laser levels and equipment to maintain correct pipe grades and alignment
n
- Connecting pipes via rubber ring joints, welding, solvent welding, or mechanical fittings
n
- Assisting with excavation, backfilling, and compaction
n
- Inspecting pipes and fittings for defects prior to installation
n
- Conducting pressure and leakage testing where required
n
- Working safely and collaboratively with operators, labourers, supervisors, and other trades
n

What We're Looking For

n

n




- Experience in civil construction or pipeline installation
n
- Ability to read and interpret plans and levels
n
- Solid understanding of trench safety and underground services
n
- Experience working with PVC, HDPE, concrete, or steel pipe systems
n
- Confident and safe use of hand and power tools
n
- Strong grasp of workplace health and safety procedures
n
- Physically fit and capable of manual labour in outdoor conditions
n
- A team player with good communication skills
n

Nice to Have (Not Essential)

- Excavator, skid steer, or other machinery tickets
n
- Experience on water, sewer, stormwater, or utility infrastructure projects
n
- Traffic management certification
n
- First Aid certificate
n
- Confined Space and Working at Heights certifications
n

n

Requirements

- Construction White Card (Australia)
n
- Valid Driver Licence
n
- Relevant civil construction qualifications or training (preferred)
n

Working Conditions

n

This is an outdoor, physically active role involving frequent lifting, bending, kneeling, and trench work. Depending on project requirements, some overtime, weekend work, or regional travel may be needed.
