Job Description
Safety Lead - Work Health & Safety
n
Duration: Initial 10 Weeks
n
Rate: $77.39/hr + Super
n
Location: Blacktown
n
Hours: 35/week
n
Overview
n
This role is primarily responsible for establishing and maintaining a working workplace, which provides for the health, safety and well-being of all employees of Council together with any other such persons or organisations as defined under the provisions of the Workplace Health and associated Acts.
n
Experience & Qualifications
n
Essential
n
n
- Diploma qualification in Work Health and Safety (WHS) or a related discipline
n
- Solid experience in WHS, with a strong understanding of WHS system management
n
- Demonstrated ability to work in WHS within a multi-dimensional industry
n
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
n
- Ability to work in a dynamic team of WHS professionals
n
- Knowledge of WHS legislation and regulations
n
- Current Class C driver's licence
n
- Basic understanding of WHS audit processes
n
- Experience in a local government environment
n
- Experience in a similar role working for a NSW self-insured employer
n
- Experience delivering basic WHS training
n
- Excellent communication skills
n

Responsibilities Position-Specific
n
n
- Develop, promote, implement, and monitor Council's WHS policies, procedures, and work instructions
n
- Demonstrate active interest and leadership in WHS
n
- Facilitate and participate in regular safety audits, and coordinate corrective action processes to ensure appropriate actions are taken
n
- Identify safety training needs
n
- Ensure compliance with State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) Self-Insurer Audit Requirements and Safety System requirements
n

Requirements

- Prepare and coordinate safety data statistics, ensuring accurate reporting for Council
n
- If this role is identified as a position that coordinates volunteer programs and supervises volunteers while they are on site (excluding work experience placements), you will be required to:n n
- Familiarise yourself with Council's Volunteers Policy and Standards
n
- Implement the policy and follow the Managing Volunteers Standard in a consistent and fair manner
n
- Undertake the training required to effectively coordinate volunteers
n
- Allocate sufficient time to volunteer coordination
n
