Job Description
Full-time | SCHADS Award Level 5 | Melbourne-based hybrid and mobile role

Children First Foundation is seeking an experienced health professional and people leader to manage our Miracle sMiles program, supporting disadvantaged children from developing countries to access life-saving and life-changing surgery in Australia.
n
This is a hands-on leadership role - not a desk-only position. You will lead an established team while remaining actively involved in supporting children and families through treatment, rehabilitation and their safe return home.

The role
n
Reporting to the CEO, you will:
n
n
- Lead the safe, effective and culturally responsive delivery of the Miracle sMiles program.
n
- Coordinate family-centred support before, during and after surgery.
n
- Lead and develop staff and volunteers.
n
- Support children and families at appointments, hospital admissions and discharges, airport transfers and accommodation.
n
- Work closely with hospitals, surgeons, allied health professionals, accommodation providers and community organisations.
n
- Champion child safeguarding in all you do.
n
- Manage program risks, budgets, records and reporting.
n
- Participate in a shared after-hours on-call roster when children are in Australia.
n
- Clinical treatment decisions remain the responsibility of the treating medical team.
n
n
About you
n
You will bring:
n
n
- A tertiary qualification in nursing, allied health or another relevant discipline.
n
- Experience in complex care, health-program coordination or a comparable setting.
n
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing staff.
n
- Solid professional judgement, risk-management and escalation skills.
n
- Sound child safeguarding knowledge and experience.
n
- The ability to build trusted relationships with children, families, health professionals and diverse stakeholders, while also maintaining professional boundaries.
n
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse families.
n
- Strong communication, organization and budget-management skills.
n
- A current full Australian driver licence.
n
- Capacity to work flexibly, travel interstate and participate in the on-call roster.
n
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse is highly desirable. Candidates with substantial, directly comparable health-program experience will also be considered.
n
