Job Description
Our client is a well-established, privately owned group, currently in the middle of the most ambitious growth chapter in its history.
n
Big decisions run on numbers, and the numbers run on models. That's where you come in.
n
They're rebuilding finance around modern tools and AI from the ground up, and they need someone who thinks in numbers, not just records them.
n
Responsibilities:
n
You won't be buried in transactional work. You'll be the person building the models behind acquisitions, infrastructure investment cases, and contract profitability - with your work landing directly in front of the people making the calls.
n
n
- Owning financial models end to end - three-way models, project cash flows, sensitivity and scenario work, investment cases that can survive real scrutiny
n
- Putting AI to work properly - using it to build faster, test assumptions, write variance commentary, and clear out the repetitive stuff so you're spending your time on judgement, not data wrangling
n
- Keeping month-end sharp and accurate - journals, accruals, intercompany reconciliations, and reporting that actually explains what happened, not just what the numbers say
n
- Sitting with the business to turn what's actually happening operationally into numbers leadership can act on
n
- Finding smarter, more automated ways to run reporting and finance processes
n
n
You'll need:
n
n
- A degree in Accounting, Finance,
Commerce or similar
n
- CPA/CA - completed or well on the way (support provided)
n
- A model you can genuinely walk someone through, including the decision it influenced
n
- Real AI fluency - not just casual use, ideally backed by a formal credential (or the willingness to get one, fully funded, early on)
n
- Strong Excel skills (Power Query, energetic arrays)
n
- Experience with ERP systems such as Xero, MYOB, NetSuite or D365
n
- Power BI experience would be highly regarded
n
n
Whats on offer:
n
n
- Real ownership comes from day one, with your models actually being used to make decisions
n
- This role puts you at the table with the executive team, giving regular exposure to the decisions your work directly shapes
n
- The scope genuinely stretches beyond standard month-end reporting, pulling you into infrastructure, acquisitions, and contract profitability.
n
- Modern tools replace legacy systems here, with a finance function being built around AI and automation from the ground up.
n
- The team is genuinely invested in where you're headed, not just what you can already do.
n
n
If you're 3-6 years into your career and ready to move beyond traditional accounting, this could be the role for you. Commercially minded and genuinely curious, you're as comfortable in a conversation as you are behind a model.
