Job Description
Practice Manager | Public Practice Accounting Firm | Sydney CBD | Full-Time
n
We are looking for an experienced Practice Manager to join a Sydney CBD-based public practice accounting firm.
n
This is a key operational leadership role suited to someone with strong accounting practice administration experience who enjoys improving processes, supporting client service delivery and ensuring the firm operates efficiently.
n
Working closely with the partners and senior managers, you will take ownership of the firm's day-to-day operations, practice systems, workflows, compliance processes and administrative functions.
n
You will play an important role in enhancing the client experience, improving internal processes and supporting the continued growth of the practice.
n

Your role will be responsible for coordinating and improving the operational functions of the firm, including:
n
n
- Managing the day-to-day administrative operations of the practice
n
- Leading, supporting and allocating work to the administration team
n
- Working closely with partners, managers and accountants to support efficient client service delivery
n
- Managing client onboarding, offboarding, engagement documentation and ongoing client administration
n
- Coordinating client compliance procedures
n
- Managing ATO and ASIC agent administration requirements
n
- Supporting client billing processes, work in progress management, fee reviews and debtor follow-up
n
- Maintaining accurate client records and ensuring effective document management and record-keeping practices
n
- Managing practice workflows, procedures, templates and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
n
- Reviewing and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and consistency
n
- Supporting technology improvements, system rollouts and workflow optimisation
n
- Managing software platforms, subscriptions, IT providers and external suppliers
n
- Overseeing office operations including facilities, vendors, workplace systems and general administration
n
- Supporting staff onboarding, training coordination, leave processes and general HR administration
n
- Assisting with reporting, dashboards, and risk management
n
- Supporting partners with strategic operational initiatives and practice management matters
n
n
Systems, Technology & Process Improvement
n
A key focus of this role will be improving how the practice operates through effective systems and processes.
n
You will be involved in:
n
n
- Reviewing and improving workflows across the practice
n
- Maintaining and enhancing practice management systems
n
- Supporting technology adoption and system implementations
n
- Developing knowledge bases, templates and internal resources
n
- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, client experience and team collaboration
n
n
Experience leading system implementations, process improvement initiatives or technology rollouts will be highly regarded.
n
To be successful in this role, you will have:
n
n
- Previous experience as a Practice Manager, Operations Manager, Office Manager or senior administration professional within an accounting firm or professional services environment
n
- Strong understanding of accounting firm workflows, client onboarding, billing processes and compliance requirements
n
- Experience leading and supporting administrative teams
n
- Solid organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
n
- Demonstrated experience improving processes, procedures and operational efficiency
n
- Confidence implementing and supporting cloud-based systems and technology solutions
n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
n
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of professionalism
n
- The ability to work autonomously, take ownership and drive outcomes
n
- A practical, hands-on approach with sound judgement and problem-solving skills
n
