Graduate Mechanical Engineer – Plant Design & Projects

We are a growing specialist engineering company delivering solutions for de-ionised water, powder handling, chemical and mechanical systems. Our primary focus is supporting the powder coating and surface finishing industries through innovative design, project delivery, commissioning, and technical support.

About the Role
n
We are seeking a motivated Graduate Mechanical Engineer to support the design, delivery, commissioning, and continuous improvement of industrial plant projects. This role combines office-based engineering and design work with occasional field-based activities, providing exposure to the full project lifecycle from concept through to commissioning and operational support. A strong capability in Autodesk Plant 3D is essential, including project setup, management, and coordination.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Develop and maintain 3D plant models using Autodesk Plant 3D.
n
- Produce and manage P&IDs;, piping layouts, isometrics, GA drawings, and engineering documentation.
n
- Set up, manage, and coordinate Plant 3D project environments, ensuring model integrity and drawing control.
n
- Support project delivery through design reviews, coordination meetings, and technical documentation.
n
- Conduct site visits for inspections, field verification, and project support.
n
- Assist with troubleshooting plant and equipment issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
n
- Support system testing, Factory Acceptance Testing (FATs), commissioning,
and operational handover activities.
n
- Work collaboratively with mechanical, electrical, process, and automation personnel.
n
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with company procedures, client requirements, and relevant Australian Standards.
n
- Promote and maintain a strong commitment to workplace health, safety, environmental requirements, and risk management practices.

- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
n
- Proficiency in Autodesk Plant 3D and AutoCAD.
n
- Ability to manage and coordinate Plant 3D projects and deliverables.
n
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.
n
- Ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
n
- Willingness to undertake occasional site work and commissioning activities.
n
- Exposure to industrial, process, water, manufacturing, mining, or energy projects.
n
- Knowledge of P&IDs;, process systems, and piping design.
n
- Familiarity with project management platforms.
n
