How You'll Make an Impact
n
As a Disability Support Worker with One Doorway,
you will join a dedicated team of carers who provide person-centred support to people with disabilities in their own homes.
n
A day in the life as a Disability Support Worker with One Doorway may include:
n
n
- Delivering person-centred care, including daily living tasks and supports based on individual needs and support plans.
n
- Completing accurate progress notes and documentation after each shift.
n
- Advocating for participants and empowering them through choice, control, and independence
n
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, families and other stakeholders. ]
n
- Behavioural and Mental Health Support
n
- Providing supports in a range of environments, including community events and in the home
n
n
As a Support Worker, you will ideally have experience within the disability and/or healthcare sectors. You will also demonstrate the following:
n
n
- Experience supporting participants with high and complex needs, along with strong communication skills
n
- A strong commitment to the rights of people with disabilities to live safe, dignified, and meaningful lives.
n
- A patient, versatile, understanding, and supportive nature, with excellent listening skills and strong attention to detail.
n
- Previous experience in a similar role, particularly working with individuals with different hoist and transfer requirements, is highly desirable.
n
- Compassionate and patient demeanour with a genuine passion for helping others.
n
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
n
n
Desirable, however, not essential:
n
n
- Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent.
n
- Valid driver's licence with access to a comprehensively insured vehicle.
