Job Description
Our client is a privately backed, rapidly growing real estate investment and funds management platform with an active pipeline of major Australian property transactions.
n
This is an chance to join a lean, highly experienced investment team and work directly with the Managing Director across acquisitions, financial modelling, transaction execution and portfolio strategy.
n
The successful candidate will gain genuine principal-side responsibility - helping determine where capital should be invested rather than simply advising on or facilitating transactions.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Assess new real estate acquisition and investment opportunities
n
- Build and maintain detailed acquisition, DCF, leveraged return, debt and equity models
n
- Undertake asset, market, tenant, lease and comparable-transaction analysis
n
- Evaluate investment returns, financing structures and key commercial risks
n
- Coordinate due diligence with valuers, lawyers, lenders, agents and technical advisers
n
- Prepare investment committee papers, investment memoranda and senior management presentations
n
- Support acquisitions, disposals, restructures and recapitalisations
n
- Monitor portfolio performance against acquisition assumptions and business plans
n
- Contribute to fund strategy, asset planning and long-term investment decisions
n
n
About You
n
You will ideally have approximately three to five years of experience within one or more of the following:
n
n
- Investment banking, preferably covering real estate, real assets or infrastructure
n
- Buy-side real estate investment or acquisitions
n
- Corporate finance or transaction advisory with meaningful property exposure
n
n
You will also bring
n
n
- Advanced Excel and financial-modelling capability
n
- Experience with DCF, IRR, NPV and debt and equity return analysis
n
- Exposure to acquisition, joint venture, development, fund or portfolio modelling
n
- Experience assessing institutional-grade real estate transactions, ideally above $50 million
n
- The ability to form an investment view and prepare a clear recommendation
n
- Strong written communication and PowerPoint skills
n
- Commercial judgement, intellectual curiosity and excellent attention to detail
n
- The confidence to work directly with senior decision-makers in a lean, entrepreneurial environment
n
- A relevant qualification in finance, commerce, economics, property or a related discipline
n
n
Experience using Forbury and progress towards the CFA qualification would be advantageous but are not essential.
