Teacher Learning and Support – Telarah Public School
Telarah Public School is situated in the western Maitland suburb of Telarah. The school is a P-6 setting with enrolment of approximately 575 students and a Family Occupation and Education Index (FOEI) of 142 with 23 mainstream classes, two K-6 Support Classes for Intensive Learning Support (ILSMH), 1 Autism Support Class (AU), an Early Intervention Class (EI) and a two-unit Preschool. Enrolment is 30% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background, 12% non-English speaking backgrounds and there is some notable transience mainly due to government housing availability. Our Preschool is one of only 100 NSW Department of Education Preschools and has achieved the rating of Exceeding in all Quality Areas in relation to the requirements of the National Quality Framework.

Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach students with learning and support needs (primary) and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs (primary) in regular classes.
Capacity to provide specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needed and their teachers.
- Expertise in implementing explicit teaching practices to provide clear, structured and targeted instruction that improves student learning outcomes.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to maintain effective partnerships with students, parents/carers, the community and colleagues to support learning and engagement.
- Demonstrated knowledge to analyse student learning data to collaboratively design, implement, monitor, and evaluate targeted small group interventions that address identified areas of concern and support improved educational outcomes.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching chance.
