Job Description
Brunel has been exclusively engaged to appoint a Head of Asset Engineering for a leading Australian energy infrastructure owner.
n
This is a rare opportunity to lead the engineering function supporting a complex portfolio of critical gas transmission and storage assets across Australia's East Coast.
n
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will lead a large multidisciplinary engineering team, providing strategic leadership across asset integrity, reliability, process safety, technical governance and operational engineering.
n
Working closely with Operations and the Central Engineering & Technical Services function, you will play a key role in strengthening engineering capability, building a high-performing leadership team and driving engineering excellence across the portfolio.
n
This is a highly visible executive leadership role offering the opportunity to shape engineering strategy, influence operational performance and become a trusted adviser to senior leadership.

Description

- Leading the engineering function across the Gas East portfolio.
n
- Building a cohesive, high-performing engineering leadership team.
n
- Driving engineering standards, governance and technical assurance.
n
- Improving asset integrity, reliability and process safety.
n
- Supporting major maintenance and operational optimisation.
n
- Partnering closely with Operations to improve engineering performance.
n
- Working collaboratively with the Central Engineering & Technical Services function to ensure engineering standards and processes are consistently applied.
n
- Developing trusted relationships across the broader leadership team.
n

Profile
n
You are a respected engineering leader who thrives in complex, high-hazard operating environments. You have built your career leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, partnering closely with Operations and delivering safe, reliable and commercially sound outcomes across critical operating assets.
n
You're equally comfortable setting engineering strategy, developing high-performing teams and providing trusted technical advice to senior leaders. Most importantly, you build credibility through sound judgement, collaboration and the ability to make difficult decisions when required.
n
Your experience will likely include:
n
n
- Leading multidisciplinary engineering teams within complex operating environments.
n
- Asset integrity, reliability and engineering assurance.
n
- Process safety and technical governance.
n
- Supporting major operating assets across industries such as oil & gas, LNG, energy infrastructure, petrochemical, refining or chemical processing.
n
- Building capability, accountability and high-performing engineering teams.
n
- Working collaboratively across engineering, operations and corporate technical functions.
n
n
You'll also bring:
n
n
- A recognised engineering degree.
n
- RPEQ (Queensland-based candidates) or CPEng (for candidates based outside Queensland),
or the ability to obtain registration.
n
