Leading Hand Carpenter - Decks & Pergolas

HS Outdoor Living builds decks, verandahs and pergolas across Melbourne. We're growing, and we need a Leading Hand Carpenter who can run a crew on site, keep jobs moving, and build to a standard we're proud to put our name on.

This isn't a "keep your head down and cut timber" role. You'll be the one on site making the calls - organising the crew, reading the job, and making sure it's built right the first time.

What you'll be doing

n

- Running the day-to-day on site as leading hand - organising your crew, sequencing the work, and keeping the job on schedule
n
- Hands-on construction of decks, pergolas and verandahs, from footings through to final fix
n
- Reading plans and specs and making sure the build matches them - post and beam sizing, footing depth, roof attachment method
n
- Keeping the site safe, tidy and compliant
n




- Liaising with the office and the client on site - flagging issues early, not after they've become expensive
n
- Mentoring less experienced carpenters and labourers on your crew
n

What you need

n
- Cert III in Carpentry (trade qualified)
n
- Minimum 3 years' experience specifically in decking and pergola construction
n
- White Card
n
- Your own tools
n
- A current driver's licence and reliable transport
n
- Proven ability to run a small crew - not just work in one
n
- Someone who takes pride in the finish, not just getting it done
n
